Missionaries to St. Lucia

West Indies

Ministry

In August, 2003, the Lord opened the door for our family to go to Saint Lucia for one year to assist Victory Baptist Church in the village of Piaye. While we were there we held regular services, taught a short music class, and hosted a by-weekly youth meeting with another local church.

About halfway through the year in 2004 the Lord burdened our heart to return to the St. Lucia as church planting missionaries.

We arrived back in the States June of 2004 and joined Macedonia World Baptist Missions.

We spent the next three years on deputation and departed for St. Lucia in November of 2007.

We are now working in St. Lucia as church planting missionaries.

Saint Lucia is a small island in the West Indies just off the coast of Venezuela with a population of approximately 165,000 people. The island is 27 miles long and 14 miles wide. Saint Lucia has been an independent nation since 1979. The climate is tropical, with temperatures averaging 70 to 80 degrees year round. English is the official language of Saint Lucia, with a French-based Creole Patois being commonly spoken by locals. The people are 95% black, of African descent. The main sources of income for the country are tourism, with nearly 50,000 arriving monthly by cruise ship alone; and banana exporting, which earns about 58 million EC dollars per year. That’s almost 22 million US dollars. The major religion of Saint Lucia is Catholicism, although they are mostly Catholic in name only. There are also Seventh-Day Adventists, Evangelicals, Pentecostals, and Jehovah’s Witnesses.
